Narrative driven Corean fine dining experience.

Nanoom means "to share" in Corean.

At Nanoom Dining, we bring our narrative driven dining experience directly to our clients. We share the marriage of the modern Corean sensibility and meaningful traditional flavors through our food and bespoke cocktails.

Every plate and bowl we use is handmade from Corea. The bronze spoons and chopsticks are modeled after the very utensils the Kings and Queens of Corea used. Our gift cards are printed on Hanji, handmade papers from Corea, with over a thousand year tradition. Through gestures both small and large, our goal is to create an immersive experience for our clients.

  • Tasting Dinner: “Seasons of Life in Corea”

No two dinners are ever the same as the menu is always evolving and changing based on seasonality and availability. Each course is paired with a different beverage, two of which are our signature cocktails using traditional Corean spirits. As Chef Lee shares his personal and cultural stories behind the food he prepared, each client will taste around 30 items during the entire dining experience at the comfort of the client’s home.

When I lost my job due to Covid19 in 2020, the original plan was to take 6 to 9 months off from everything. I’ve had a 16 year long career as a chef and I thought I needed a break.

Then on my first day of unemployment, my wife, Esther, asked me what I really wanted to do. I told her I wasn’t sure anymore. Esther suggested that I cook traditional Corean food the way I had always envisioned it. She said that if I was never going to cook again, it would be a great way to end my career. The very next day, Esther designed the Nanoom Dining logo with water colors. Later that same week, she handed me my business card and said she believed in me.

My entire career, I always shied away from cooking Corean food professionally. I was hesitant to be comfortable in my own skin and cook the food I grew up eating. But when I was feeling down, all I wanted to do was to cook Corean food and learn more about the food I kept distant from. I wanted to cook and plate Corean food without westernizing the presentation or gentrifying the ingredients. With Nanoom Dining, I cook Corean food the way our parents remember them.

Nanoom Dining is my personal love letter to Corean food, to my entire career and all the people that helped me along the way. It is my personal and cultural journey to learn more about Corea and to share with my clients.
